Recovering the user profile of a deleted user account

If a user account is deleted, accidentally or intentionally, the user profile associated with that account can become orphaned. Even if a user with the same name is re-created, the user accounts' Security Identifiers will be different, meaning the original profile is not accessible to the new user account.

Alter-Ego from Winterfrost Systems can be used to link a profile to a new user account by performing a SID-based profile migration. The disconnected profile's NTFS and registry permissions are updated and profile registry entries are modified to recover the information in the old profile for the newly created user.

The following link contains complete details on recovering an orphaned profile with Alter-Ego.
