"Creation of raster port failed" when attempting to convert to TIF

When attempting to convert a PDF document to TIF by using the "Save As..." function in Adobe Acrobat you receive the error "Creation of raster port failed." This issue can be caused by a corrupt, non-standard, or a PDF file created in a newer version of Acrobat than the one installed on your system (e.g. the PDF was created with Acrobat 7 and you are attempting to convert it using Acrobat 6).

A workaround to this issue (tested with Adobe Acrobat 6) is to save the PDF to a different filename or to create a new PDF from the PDF you wish to convert. This will ensure that any errors in the formatting or standard are corrected and the PDF will be generated as a version compatible with your copy of Acrobat. You should then be able to "Save As..." a TIF file.
