Linksys router constantly prompts for password when saving changes

When attempting to add a port-forwarding (Application & Gaming) setting to a Linksys router, I was prompted for a password. The standard administrator password was not accepted, and the username/password dialog box repeatedly popped up in a loop. The router administrator password was changed and saved without issue. However, when trying to save the port-forwarding settings change, the password prompt appeared again and did not accept the new or the old password.

This issue was caused by using (1.5.0.2) to navigate the administration page. When the administration page was loaded in Internet Explorer, the password prompt did not appear and the settings were saved successfully.

This problem was encountered on a Linksys BEFSX41 (firmware version 1.50.18) router, though I suspect it might appear in other situations and possibly on other Linksys products.
