Catalog contents of folders including zip contents

We have found InsideCAT to be extremely helpful for creating catalogs of disks, CDs, or backups. It is very intuitive to use and rapidly creates catalogs of the contents of any selected media (hard drive, CD, DVD, floppy, etc.). The most helpful feature we found was that it catalogs the contents 14 formats of compressed files (ZIP, RAR, CAB, ACE, JAR, SQX, ARJ, LZH, LHA, ARC, ZOO, PAK, TAR, GZIP, EXEs) as well, making it an excellent tool for recording the contents of data which has been zipped and archived to CD, DVD, or a removable hard drive for backup.

The search features are quite powerful and extremely fast. The application is very stable and under active development with incremental upgrades released a few times a year.

Another favourite "feature" of ours is that it can be installed to a network location and run directly from there with no noticeable loss of performance and no client-side installation necessary.

The Lite version of InsideCAT is free and supports up to 100 catalogs. The Professional version supports "unlimited" catalogs and includes numerous other handy features like a built-in decompressor.

Support is via email, though in more than 2 years of regular use, we have never had a need to contact them. It just works.
